July, along the Srinagar–Leh highway, just after sunrise. We were stopped at the roadside waiting for an army convoy to pass when I looked out of the window and saw this: a meltwater stream threading down the gorge below, slopes running from bare rock to deep green in a thousand feet (300 m), cloud caught along the high ridges, and the early light finding gold in the near slopes. No tripod, no setup — just the frame, while it lasted.
Sonamarg means "meadow of gold," a name the valley earns in the warmer months. This is a landscape of layers: the lit near slopes, the stream falling through shadow below, the cloud-wrapped peaks behind.
Gallery Metal — The next generation of the metal print: printed with Canon LUCIA PRO pigment inks and bonded to a rigid aluminium panel beneath a protective laminate, resolving finer detail and holding colour longer than dye-sublimation can. The modern process for images that reward close viewing. Here that keeps the fine detail of the distant cloud-wrapped ridges legible, which matters in an image with this much depth. Glossy adds a hard coat for scratch resistance along with the fuller colour and depth; matte is anti-glare and holds sharp detail without softening it. Both are UV-protected for long-term display.
