Slot Canyon Glow Fine Art Paper Print

from $76.00

Canyon X, mid-morning, flat on my back on the canyon floor looking straight up. The camera saw more than my eye did: over a thirty-second exposure, light bouncing between the walls accumulated into the violets that sit against the fired orange above. Standing there, it read mostly as warm rock and shadow.

Canyon X is a slot on Navajo land near Page, Arizona — quieter than its famous neighbours, and narrow enough that light reaches the floor only for a short window each day. What the sandstone records is time: cross-bedded dunes laid down some 190 million years ago, then cut by flash floods into these fluted, wave-like walls. The long exposure is doing something similar on a shorter scale — collecting light the eye can't hold.

Fine Art Paper — Canson Platine Fibre Rag renders the colour transition with lustre smoothness and depth. Canson Arches BFK Rives White gives a softer, more painterly reading of the fluted walls; Moab Silver Metallic heightens contrast and lends the lit upper rock a pearlescent shimmer. Prints are trimmed borderless at the stated size. 8x12 inches and smaller ship flat; larger sizes ship rolled, and are supplied unframed.

Every fine art paper print carries a 1-inch white border for handling and framing, added outside the image dimensions shown. The exception is the largest size in each aspect ratio, where the paper is already at its maximum width: those are printed borderless, edge to edge at the size shown.
